Do you miss Panera’s Pumpkin Muffies? I sure do … especially seasonally when Fall flavors are essential! These Perfect Pumpkin Muffin Tops are a healthier version, using a combination of white and wheat flour, less refined sugar, natural maple syrup, and nutrient packed pumpkin puree. You will marvel at your moist, flavorful muffin tops that rival Panera’s Pumpkin Muffies!
Health Benefits of Pumpkin
Pumpkin is part of the squash family, along with butternut, zucchini and others. However, since pumpkin and other squash family members contain seeds, they are surprisingly categorized as a fruit rather than a vegetable! Pumpkin is low in sugar, making it a great source of fiber that is rich in vitamins and minerals including Vitamins A, C, K, and E. It can boost brain function, fight depression and regulate blood sugar. While fresh pumpkin is packed with even greater nutrients, canned pumpkin puree is a great alternative, since the pumpkin is already steam cooked and pureed for convenience.
Muffin Top Pans Make Perfect Muffin Tops
Have you ever purchased a muffin and torn the top right off to eat first? The smooth top is the best part, is less messy and has a delicious outer texture. But how do you bake a muffin top? Enter the muffin top pan — the surefire way to bake Perfect Pumpkin Muffin Tops. These pans are more shallow than your ordinary muffin tin, which allows you to get that disc-like flatter muffin. The result is a larger, wider muffin top to enjoy, rather than one with a smaller diameter on a regular muffin. Less mess, more muffin top, and Fall flavors all in one!
Perfect Pumpkin Muffin Tops Come Together Quickly
Despite the list of ingredients, this recipe comes together quickly once you have all your ingredients on the counter. Mix the dry ingredients together, mix the wet ingredients together (best to first mix sugar and butter first) and then mix all together. Your batter is now ready for baking! Evenly place your batter in each muffin top and bake for 30 minutes or until golden and toothpick comes clean.
