What Exactly is Apple Cider?
Fresh apple cider can be made at home, but it is far easier to purchase it ready to go from the store. It actually goes through several stages of extensive production before it is ready to drink. As a brief overview, fresh apple cider typically consists of a combination of four different types of apples with different flavor profiles (think sweet, tart, acidic, neutral). These apples are blended together along with the skins. The juice is then pressed and extracted from the pulpy apple mixture, resulting in the apple cider. It later goes through a fermentation process prior to the bottling stage, allowing it to have a longer shelf life. The result is a delicious cider that is fuller bodied than apple juice.
Fall Flavors Shine in this Cocktail
Fall flavors like apple, cinnamon and star anise shine in this cocktail. Fresh apple cider purchased from the store acts as your base. Next, top it off with your favorite Prosecco. Toppings such as fresh chopped apples, cinnamon and a floating star anise make it pretty! Star anise adds just a subtle hint of licorice flavor and sophistication. Beautiful and delicious! Cheers!
