Equipment

  • 1 Pot
  • 1 Peeler
  • 8 Individual servings bowls
  • 1 Set, Measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 8 Bosc pears, firm but ripe, washed and peeled
  • 3 cups Pom 100% Pomegranate Juice
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp Pomegranate molasses
  • 4 Cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp Allspice
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • Pomegranate seeds, fresh, for garnish
  • Unsalted shelled pistachios, toasted for garnish

Instructions

  • Wash and peel pears to remove skin, leaving stems in tact.
  • Place pears in a large pot and add pomegranate juice. Bring to a boil. Drizzle pomegranate molasses over the pears and reduce heat to low. Simmer pears for an hour, rotating pears gently twice to get even color all around pear.
  • Test pears by inserting a fork in one to see if tender and soft. Doneness will depend on how ripe pears were initially, so some additional simmering may be needed.
  • Once done, remove pears from pot and place in individual serving bowls. Bring remaining liquid to a boil and reduce until thicker.
  • Pour some of the reserved juice over pears. Top each pear with fresh pomegranate seeds and toasted pistachios. Enjoy!
